Wheelock College: “We Are” Ubuntu Collaborative Art Project

bit.ly We Are is a collaborative art making project by Ubuntu Arts at Wheelock College and the Mattahunt Boys Academy. Ubuntu (oo-BOON-too) v, n, adj, adv. [Bantu languages, Africa] “I am because you are.” Ubuntu in the Works is a dynamic collection of on-going projects and initiatives at Wheelock College that are created by a partnership between the Office of Collegiate and College Access Programs and our Juvenile Justice and Youth Advocacy program. “The Works” are inspired by the spirit of Ubuntu and link community and college through a myriad of community collaborations. Our projects provide opportunities for academic and leadership development for college and pre-college students that strengthen the students, their communities, and Wheelock. We strive to have young people be involved, engaged, connected and heard; and for adults to work in productive, innovative, and respectful ways with youth. Ubuntu in the Works helps young people: Develop leadership and advocacy skills Engage with their communities and their government Pursue education as a life-long experience Form meaningful connections with their peers and their community To learn more about Ubuntu Arts, visit www.wheelock.edu
